Most of us have heard about chakras – the Sanskrit name for the spinning “wheels” of energy which are part of our energetic anatomy. Most of us know that they are most famously part of India’s vast and ancient knowledge systems, and that nowadays we commonly refer to 7 main chakras with various correspondences (which relate to our physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and energetic wellbeing).

Still, there is quite a lot more to the topic. It is thought that chakras transform universal energy, and bring it through the layers of the aura to the physical body. It’s not a case of “open chakra = good; closed chakra = bad”; it’s about the chakra being balanced in all aspects.

Without getting too deep, I’ll explain how the Neuroenergetic Kinesiology energy healing system balances the chakras. Other systems may approach the topic differently.

I do some chakra rebalancing in most of my sessions – sometimes just a little bit, and other times it is the main focus of the session. There can be several metaphysical correlations that show up with a chakra 'block'.

Let me break it down for you:

1. I look at 3 types of chakras:

  • the 7 major chakras which most people are familiar with: the base/root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, brow and crown chakras. They have links to the physical body’s organs, glands and endocrine system.
  • the minor chakras: I can check 27 of them, located all over the body - in the joints of the arms and legs, as well as some organs (eyes, ears, liver, etc.) and other parts of the torso and the head
  • the celestial chakras: these are 5 chakras that are not touching the physical body but are above the head and below the feet. They typically have more spiritual associations.

These are the chakras I check but there are many more.

2. Many chakras have a front side and a back side (which is not often shown in common illustrations). There is a different implication when I find an issue in the front of a chakra compared to the back. For example, an imbalance at the back of a chakra can indicate it was triggered by external situations and people around us, rather than something intrinsic to us.

3. A chakra can have a good overall function, but I might find an imbalance only in relation to a specific issue, such as a difficult relationship or a stressful work environment.

4. A chakra can have an energy deficiency or an excess.

5. The imbalance can be more about the direction of energy flow: how much chakra energy is being expressed outwards, versus being received.

6. You can resolve a long-term chakra issue, and you can still experience smaller /other issues in the same chakra sometimes because … life happens.

7. I cannot see chakras. I sense the chakra energy with my hands (usually while I'm muscle-testing and referring to a set of chakra information). I use very simple techniques to rebalance the chakras: energy from my hands or pure white light. There are many other methods to restore chakra balance (such as sound vibrations, visualisation, meditation, crystals, flower remedies, physical movements, etc.).

As you can see, the system I use can build a picture of my client’s unique chakra imbalance that is far more nuanced than simply saying: “You have a blocked throat chakra”. A lot what I do in a kinesiology energy healing session is digging down into the fine details of an imbalance to be able to access the issue fully. Once I have that information, unblocking it is easy.

To be perfectly honest, we most likely resolve lots of chakra imbalances by ourselves throughout our lives. However, the blocks I find in a session are those that are still bothering my clients. Correcting those imbalances helps people feel good again in their bodies, minds and emotions.

In conclusion, I check:

  • Which chakra is the imbalance in? - Major, minor or celestial chakras?
  • Is there an energy excess or deficiency?
  • Is the issue with energy being expressed outwards from the chakra, or is it about energy being received into the chakra?
  • Is the imbalance in the front or back of the chakra?
  • Is it intrinsic to my client, or was it influenced by their environment?
  • I then look for other physical, emotional, spiritual and metaphysical correlations (such as archetypes, belief systems) that help my client understand their story and how this imbalance fits into their experience. Even though I rebalance the energy myself, it is immensely helpful to people's healing and understanding when they get added context about the patterns in their life.
